Game Day Preview

Langley, BC – The Rivermen will be looking to rebound when they take on the Victoria Grizzlies tonight at the Langley Events Centre. The Rivermen are coming off a 6-3 lost to Coquitlam last night, as they have struggled to find their rhythm in the month of November.

The Rivermen sit 14-7-1-2 overall and have dropped into second place in the BCHL Mainland Division. In November the Rivermen have gone 2-2-0-1 and trail Prince George by just one point for the division lead but the Rivermen also have one game in hand.

It’s going to be a big test for the Rivermen tonight who face a Grizzlies team that’s been hot to start the month, as the Grizzlies have gone 4-1-1-0 and have won 2 straight outscoring their opponents 11 to 5. The Rivermen have also been battling the injury bug for the last couple weeks during this up and down start to the month but they are expected to get a key player back tonight.

Captain Mitch McLain will be back in the lineup after sitting out his one game suspension last night against Coquitlam. McLain leads the team in points with 27 (11g, 16a).

The return of McLain will definitely help the Rivermen upfront but Zach Urban and Will Cook could be a game time decision tonight as they both dealt with injuries in last night’s loss. The Rivermen are already without forwards Evan Anderson, James Robinson, and Kevan Killistoff so a few call ups are expected to enter the lineup.

This will be the first of two meetings between the Rivermen and the Grizzlies as the Rivermen will also travel to Victoria in the new year. The puck drops at 7:15pm tonight at the LEC as the Rivermen will be looking to get themselves back into first place in the BCHL Mainland Division.
