Rivermen week preview October 24th and 25th versus Coquitlam Express

The Langley Rivermen play a home and home with the Coquitlam Express beginning next Friday at the Poirier Sports and Leisure Complex, before both team’s return to Langley on Saturday in the reverse game.

Langley are coming off a four-game week, as they took part in the annual BCHL Showcase at the Abbotsford Centre. Tuesday they bested the Cranbrook Bucks 4-3 in overtime, and pulled out an exciting 8-5 win over the Sherwood Park Crusaders on Thursday courtesy of an Aaron Reierson hat trick.

The team finished the busy week on Saturday at the Alberni Valley Multiplex against the Bulldogs a 6-4 Rivermen win, but Langley would fall to the Spruce Grove Saints on Sunday at the George Preston Arena 4-1 to conclude the hectic week.

Coquitlam meanwhile had a busy week themselves, besting Vernon in overtime 2-1 on Sunday, falling 4-1 to Blackfalds on Monday, defeating Sherwood Park 4-3 on Friday at home, but fell 4-1 to Spruce Grove on Saturday at the Poirier Sports and Leisure Complex to end the busy week.

COQUITLAM PLAYER TO WATCH

#13 Nolan Flynn – the second year Express forward has caught fire offensively for Coquitlam after a slow star to the season. The Sacred Heart commit is riding a 5 game point streak coming into Friday’s game collecting two goals and four assists in that span. Langley will have to keep an eye on the Natick, Massachusetts product in the two game set this weekend.

LANGLEY PLAYER TO WATCH

#17 Zachary Benayon – the pride of Vaughn, Ontario is off to a tear in his first full BCHL season after being shut down last January 2025 due to an upper body injury. Benayon had 5 goals and 1 assist during the four game week Langley had, and has 13 points in 11 games on the young season. Of his 22 career BCHL games, 7 have been multi point efforts and he will look to continue his strong scoring touch in a big two game weekend matchup against the Express.

Puck drop for the second game of the weekend on Saturday at the George Preston Arena is slated for 7:15, and you can get your tickets at https://www.showpass.com/o/langley-rivermen-2/.
