The Langley Rivermen will play the final two regular season games this weekend as they visit the Surrey Eagles on Friday and head down the road to Chilliwack to take on the Chiefs on Sunday. The Rivermen enter this weekend following an exciting trip up to Kitimat for the BCHL Road Show, where they split a two-game set with the Prince George Spruce Kings.
After dropping the first game up north 5-1 in which Daniel O’Neill scored the lone Riv goal, the second game proved to be the barn burner that the folks in Kitimat were there to see. Prince George left winger Carter Cochrane opened the scoring in the first, a lead which they held until Sean Bunting evened the score in the third period. Hunter McCoy fired a beauty into the back of the net in overtime to secure the 2-1 victory for the Rivermen. Jake Livingstone had two assists and Braedon Fleming stopped 20 shots in the win.
The two points earned also secured a fourth-place finish in the Mainland Division for Langley and a date with the top seed Coquitlam Express in the first round of the 2020 Shaw BCHL Playoffs. Here is the schedule for the first round:
